FIFTEEN STEPS TO CRACK THE SOFTWARE/CORPORATE JOB INTERVIEW

Top fifteen steps to through the corporate job interview

  1. First step is to prepare your resume up to date and have a thorough understanding of your own resume including the number of projects you have worked till now, project names in which you were involved and number of resources involved in each project with duration of each project too. 
  2. Start doing research in yourself, ask yourself about what are your objectives, what are the short-term & long-term goals you have, know your resume well and prepare your answers.
  3. You should be preparing for the interview at least a few months in advance to crack it very easily also you can set up mock-up interviews (With your buddies/friends) to have a great exposure to avoid the interview fear or interview tension or else you can try by taking a self interview sitting in front of a mirror to answer few questionnaire to overcome the interview fear this trick will helps you in building a lot of confidence in you.
  4. look up the basics of the programming languages for which interview you were attending and well prepared to write the code even on the whiteboard too instead of the usual software IDE (programming editor on laptop/system) to meet up the interviewer expectations.  
  5. You should also focus on your communication skills apart from your technical skill set, believe even having a great technical knowledge without effective interpersonal skills will not take you anywhere. Try to be more expressive and a good communicator in the interview.

  6. Be well dressed in formals rather than casuals which gives best impression on you and also your attire brings lot of confidence in you to through the job interview 
  7. Be at least 30 mins prior to the interview scheduled time at the venue is much appreciative, so that you cannot rush further in completing the other formalities like in-front gate security check or connecting the point of contact in-person at the office reception before attending the interview. Completion of these things without any hassles makes you more compost and ready for the interview. 
  8. Put your mobile phone on silent or vibration mode or else switched off before the interview so that your full attention is on the interview otherwise it would cause a big damage to your interview
  9. Maintain a document holder to have all of your original certificates including three sets of photocopies of each certificate. Don’t forget to carry at least anyone of your government approved original ID proofs like passport, aadhaar card or voter card with three copies of your recent passport size head shots (Photos).
  10. Believe it first impression is the best impression. Showcase your competences and abilities and how well you can serve them in the job. Be sure you don’t be antagonistic & overconfident.
  11. Maintain eye contact with interviewer while you having discussion in the interview. You should show yourself very passionate towards the job and don’t be aggressive and tone should be in pleasing way with the interviewer.
  12. When interviewer asked about your Strengths, then you should acknowledge them by portraying your profile with respective to your resume.  
  13. When interviewer asked about your weaknesses, then you should acknowledge them. If you are not able to define your weaknesses, then it shows that you lack in doing research of self-awareness. No one can’t be perfect in everything so it’s okay to accept your weaknesses.
  14. Try to be open in an interview, believe as no one is expected to know everything and expected to have worked on all the parts of a project. Be confident of what you know and have worked upon and let the interviewer know your area of expertise without bluffing the interviewer in which you haven’t part of the project or task of the job.
  15. At the end of the interview say thanks to the interviewer while leaving the room for investing lot of his/her time in interviewing you.
