TEN TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR TIME MANAGEMENT

You can also manage your time using all or few of the below listed tips:


Time management is one of the essential skillsets should be adopted by every individual who works especially in corporate industry to avoid unnecessary work stress and anxiety feeling to achieve the deadlines of the projects/tasks on time.

When you acquire and continue with good time management skills, in overall you will find yourself so free from the targets, very free from the work pressure/stress also you can see yourself more productive and very calm.

Now this is tricky question. “How do you manage the TIME?” Every individual is not same and, each person differ with the other person in various ways like thinking, reacting, responding, behavior wise etc. Now it is clear that we should consider that time management is not same for all individuals to follow the same set of rules to bang the hassles and pressures at work it should be treated differently by every individual based on their own nature of handling the tasks in his/her own pace and style.

I have listed top ten tips which I generally follow to manage my time very efficiently, if you feel these are great to you even then you can borrow few of them or all of these rules to achieve your time management in a better way:

  1. Start early and complete the project on time instead of procrastinating it by not prioritizing it and leaving it till the day of the dead line date which in outcomes chaos in turn results in bad time management so avoid this and prioritize things and work on them efficiently.  
  2. Creating your system or folders in computer in more organized way or in-detail to avoid the confusion arises in the future while digging for a particular file or asset from the directory or library from the laptop/system to complete the task/project.  
    1. Set your outlook (E-mail communicator) with different set of organized folders to manage your emails in a better way by running the available provision in outlook called Rules
    2. Set auto signature for new or reply or forward email to save some amount of time in tying the regards in the email 
  3. Make a to do list for every day and stick it on your desk quite opposite to your cubicle to be visible to you throughout the day so that you will not miss the task as per the do list for that particular day. You can manage the to do list not only by paper stick notes but also you can do it on your mobile phones, outlook calendar on your laptop, also you can use the sticky notes functionality in the windows operating system too.  
  4. Sometimes saying NO is also an art so learn to say NO with your boss/senior colleague for the additional tasks or projects which are going to come into your bucket but make sure you should have a proper answer/justification for saying NO to your boss or whom so ever. Be prepared for it in advance. Do not stumble while the time to act up on.  
  5. Be careful about the amount of time in wasting your office production time by browsing the unnecessary internet, chatting with friends on mobiles, or posting on social media sites or playing games on the laptop or in the office premises in the office timings, if you can keep a pinpoint on these things hopefully you can manage the production time (Drained production time) in the office.
  6. Allocating your overburden work to the other colleagues makes you feel less burden and never think delegating work to some other person is not going to indicate that you were a feeble professional. Although being an expert sometimes it is not so easy to take all of the things on his/her own shoulders. So, sharing the work with the team whom you can trust well and feel they are capable by that you can avoid unnecessary stress or work pressure on you and also you can meet the deadlines on time. 
  7. You can use your idle time while travelling to office in the cab/car or while walking on the streets near the office premises or where ever you feel you are little free then don’t waste time try to plan when to have snacks/dinner for that day, plan for any urgent meetings for that day to attend.  
  8. Don’t try to do multi-tasking because as a human we can focus only one aspect of the job at a single point of time or moment. So, if you try to focus on multiple things at a same time sometimes you may finish the task correctly but, most of the times you stumble at work and results in confusion which makes more in delay of the project submission.
  9. When you achieve something like award or promotion in the office then try to celebrate it with the team by putting it on your team members outlook calendar so that you can check for their availability status and based on their availability you can manage your time in a proper way.

    Also while connecting with the people/team also helps in networking and which will be helpful in your future projects and further endeavors to finish them very easily with them.  
  10. Do regular exercise at least weekly five days for 30–45 minutes per day and eat healthy food and be energetic throughout the week days and try to take more rest on the weekends to lift up your energy levels to get ready for the next week days.

FIFTEEN STEPS TO CRACK THE SOFTWARE/CORPORATE JOB INTERVIEW

Top fifteen steps to through the corporate job interview

  1. First step is to prepare your resume up to date and have a thorough understanding of your own resume including the number of projects you have worked till now, project names in which you were involved and number of resources involved in each project with duration of each project too. 
  2. Start doing research in yourself, ask yourself about what are your objectives, what are the short-term & long-term goals you have, know your resume well and prepare your answers.
  3. You should be preparing for the interview at least a few months in advance to crack it very easily also you can set up mock-up interviews (With your buddies/friends) to have a great exposure to avoid the interview fear or interview tension or else you can try by taking a self interview sitting in front of a mirror to answer few questionnaire to overcome the interview fear this trick will helps you in building a lot of confidence in you.
  4. look up the basics of the programming languages for which interview you were attending and well prepared to write the code even on the whiteboard too instead of the usual software IDE (programming editor on laptop/system) to meet up the interviewer expectations.  
  5. You should also focus on your communication skills apart from your technical skill set, believe even having a great technical knowledge without effective interpersonal skills will not take you anywhere. Try to be more expressive and a good communicator in the interview.

Be at least 30 mins prior to the interview scheduled time at the venue is much appreciative, so that you cannot rush further in completing the other formalities like in-front gate security check or connecting the point of contact in-person at the office reception before attending the interview. Completion of these things without any hassles makes you more compost and ready for the interview. 
  8. Put your mobile phone on silent or vibration mode or else switched off before the interview so that your full attention is on the interview otherwise it would cause a big damage to your interview
  9. Maintain a document holder to have all of your original certificates including three sets of photocopies of each certificate. Don’t forget to carry at least anyone of your government approved original ID proofs like passport, aadhaar card or voter card with three copies of your recent passport size head shots (Photos).
  10. Believe it first impression is the best impression. Showcase your competences and abilities and how well you can serve them in the job. Be sure you don’t be antagonistic & overconfident.
  11. Maintain eye contact with interviewer while you having discussion in the interview. You should show yourself very passionate towards the job and don’t be aggressive and tone should be in pleasing way with the interviewer.
  12. When interviewer asked about your Strengths, then you should acknowledge them by portraying your profile with respective to your resume.  
  13. When interviewer asked about your weaknesses, then you should acknowledge them. If you are not able to define your weaknesses, then it shows that you lack in doing research of self-awareness. No one can’t be perfect in everything so it’s okay to accept your weaknesses.
  14. Try to be open in an interview, believe as no one is expected to know everything and expected to have worked on all the parts of a project. Be confident of what you know and have worked upon and let the interviewer know your area of expertise without bluffing the interviewer in which you haven’t part of the project or task of the job.

HOW TO OVERCOME THE POLITICS IN THE CORPORATE OR SOFTWARE OFFICES

How to overcome the politics at work or politics in the corporate or software offices?



To be honest if we speak no one really loves politics in the office premises. But in the reality the corporate companies are the actual political organizations by its nature which boost up in making the political environment to survive and thrive at work.

It is very important for us to understand why our own buddies or colleagues play politics with us, and how we can avoid it to secure our position or job in the company. If you like it or not? If you want to make an impact in your own firm to stable yourself you have to be learning how to play the game in favor of you to overcome the politics played on you. 



Basically, politics in your office environment will be played on you/someone by other employees because of the following reasons:
  1. Insecurity feelings of your fellow/superior person about your/victim adequate or extraordinary skill set
  2. Envy on your/victim talent, experience, professionalism, on floor behavior, culture, nature of work etc.
  3. By nature, most of the female employees they will be nervous and weak in playing the politics with others but on the other hand few lady employees who were savvy in the job for longer period can understand the politics well and can play politics in reverse.
  4. If you/victim having a great career growth in short period of time when compared to other fellow employees with the same level or even higher level, this also brings the chance for the other fellows to play politics
  5. If the fellow employees have inadequate skill set or if they have no job at the work then just to pass the time they mostly play with the emotions of the other fellow employees on discrimination of C,C,C, region etc.
Only GROUND RULE for anyone to overcome the office politics or to strengthen your political prowess:



  1. You/victim have to understand the weird/unexpected situations happening against you/victim in the office by the colleagues/boss’s with no no delay & try to handle it with gently and professionally
  2. You/victim should be emotionally strong or should improve the emotional intelligence to overcome it and more over You/victim should have NO expectation until you achieve anything what ever you want to become else, it leads to STRESS.
Note: If you keep on thinking on these office politics at a personal level it will leads to WORK STRESS

STRESS  =  EXPECTATION - REALITY

For example:
  1. If you expect 10 out of 10 on a scale 1-10 and then in reality you achieved only 4 then your stress level is 6 (10-4) which is high on a scale 1-10.
  2. If your expectation is 0 (nothing) and you achieved 5 in reality then your stress level is zero and you will be very happy because you got 5 in return in reality.
